Another fascinating and insightful read Soph. I was surprised to read that broad adoption of AI would still lift global growth. I suppose getting to broad adoption is the key! Oh but those child mortality rates are heartbreaking 😪
Thanks, Colin. Yes, broad adoption is key. The World Bank’s work backs the view that AI can lift growth, especially when it is applied to real constraints in credit, health, education, and small enterprise rather than just used as a layer of hype around existing business models in advanced economies.
And yes, those child mortality figures are heartbreaking 😔. A reminder that this can (should?!) ultimately be about solving real problems, not just advancing a narrative or getting small AI-led productivity wins.
