I think what most will wrestle with (myself included!) is finding the sweet spot to connect with a global audience. I don't think content creators get enough credit for their strategic nous. The Mr Beast example you provided is a great one, but you only have to look at the continual versatility/flexibility of someone like Gary Vaynerchuk to see that content creation and delivery is a 24-hour a day job. Other influencers such as MKBHD make the complex look incredibly easy, and it's only when we sit down and start to think about 'OK, so how to I connect with MY global audience' you realise just how hard it is! Great thought piece to start my day, thanks Soph!

What I love about it, and what you have written, is that it is a strategic game that anyone, anywhere can play (albeit not an easy one!) And, it can have a huge ROI for the ambitious.

It's great that reaching a community of tens of millions is possible without borders or barriers. Or, or even just 0.01% of the 5.55 billion current active internet users in the world, for a different take on a global strategy (e.g. a globally dispersed market of 555,000 could be huge for some businesses or leaders that currently have a limited market base and are negatively impacted by local economic downturns).

On the connection piece - there's gold in Kevin Kelly's 1000 True Fans. I wonder if value (to a small group) over vanity (collecting many followers) is a strategic move, particularly when starting out. https://kk.org/thetechnium/1000-true-fans/

love this.. it would be interesting to also see how did these content creators found their niches - was there a METHOD to the MADNESS or did they stumble on to them..

Perhaps a mixture of method and madness, Mukesh! And a lot of experimentation while engaging a community.

In ‘Be Your Future Self Now’ Dr Benjamin Hardy details MrBeats rise by envisaging the future - a clear vision of what success looks like helped push him to do more, leveraging his platform and growth opportunities.
