What I love about it, and what you have written, is that it is a strategic game that anyone, anywhere can play (albeit not an easy one!) And, it can have a huge ROI for the ambitious.

It's great that reaching a community of tens of millions is possible without borders or barriers. Or, or even just 0.01% of the 5.55 billion current active internet users in the world, for a different take on a global strategy (e.g. a globally dispersed market of 555,000 could be huge for some businesses or leaders that currently have a limited market base and are negatively impacted by local economic downturns).

On the connection piece - there's gold in Kevin Kelly's 1000 True Fans. I wonder if value (to a small group) over vanity (collecting many followers) is a strategic move, particularly when starting out. https://kk.org/thetechnium/1000-true-fans/
